Accio Books Drive!

The Asheville Harry Potter Alliance wants your books! We’re collecting your unwanted or unneeded books for Accio Books, a book drive which will send the donations to a new community library in Uganda. We are specifically looking for books that include main characters or authors that are people of color. Any books that we are unable to send to Africa will be donated locally to The POP Project. We have book drop off locations at The Hop on Merrimon, Wyvern’s Tale, Retro Games in downtown Canton, Asheville Savings Bank downtown, and Orbit DVD. You can also come to any of our events listed below!


*April 13th at The Hop on Merrimon from 6-9pm for our opening event.

*April 23rd at Spellbound Books from 5-7pm for a World Book Night event

*April 30th at the Waynesville Branch of the Haywood County Public Library from 10am-4pm for Library-Con

*May 18th at the Canton branch of the Haywood County Public Library at 4pm for our Accio Books closing event.

Weaverville Art Safari

Jesus Gets The Gameball/Crossover Cancer

We host a basketball tournament each year in May. The proceeds are generated through entry fee for teams, concessions, and donations. All funds are donated to women who are currently fighting cancer, and are having a hard time financially. This year the tournament starts at 6:30 on Friday and ends at 5:30 on Sunday.


Music for the Sole 5K Trail Run!

The A.C. Reynolds High School Band is having its Second Music for the Sole 5K Trail Run on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 9 a.m.  This exciting event will bring together music lovers and trail running enthusiasts as it benefits the school’s marching band.  The first 250 participants who register for the race will receive an event t-shirt.  Runners may pick up packets at the school, 1 Rocket Drive, Asheville, on Friday, June 3rd from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm outside the band room.  Packets may also be picked up before the race, starting at 8 am Saturday morning.  To register go to

The schedule of events

  • Friday night, June 10th from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm music, food, and beverages at The Imperial, its porch, courtyard and sidewalk.
  • Saturday, June 11th from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm local arts and crafts, music, local stories and legends, farmer tailgate market and Boojum Scavenger Hunt. These events will be located at the Imperial Hotel, Smathers Square, Main Street and throughout the historic downtown district.
  • Sunday, June 12th, the event will move to Canton’s Camp Hope (possible birthplace of the Boojum) for family oriented event
